Rove Concepts is seeking a commercially minded, hands-on senior finance leader to strengthen financial discipline, assess operational effectiveness, and drive measurable improvements across its business. Rove Concepts is a direct-to-consumer modern furniture brand serving North America with operations across Asia.
This is an execution-focused leadership role—not a purely strategic or advisory position. The successful candidate will work directly with financial and operational data, challenge existing processes, investigate discrepancies, and lead practical changes. Depending on experience and scope, the title may be VP Finance, Finance Director or CFO. The role also calls for a practical, working command of AI tools, using them day to day to analyse data, automate routine work and accelerate the review.
Initial mandate: end-to-end finance and operational review
- Conduct a detailed diagnostic of financial operations and related business processes, present a risk-ranked improvement roadmap to the Chairman, and lead implementation.
- Review month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, consolidation, management reporting and financial-data reliability.
- Assess cash controls, banking, treasury, working capital, cash-flow forecasting and payment authorisations.
- Examine inventory accuracy, stock movements, write-offs, landed costs, freight, duties, returns and cost of goods sold.
- Test profitability and unit economics by product and sales channel, including DTC website, showrooms and marketplaces.
- Review key operational workflows—including procurement, supplier onboarding, purchasing, fulfilment, logistics, refunds and returns—to identify inefficiencies, control weaknesses and potential leakage.
- Perform risk-based internal control reviews and audit-style testing of transactions, approvals, segregation of duties, supporting documentation and audit trails.
- Evaluate finance systems and data flows across ERP/accounting platforms, Shopify, payment gateways, banking and logistics tools; identify automation, integration and AI opportunities, such as AI-assisted reconciliations, anomaly detection, invoice processing and forecasting.
- Assess intercompany transactions, entity reporting, tax and statutory compliance with relevant local advisers.
- Deliver documented findings, root-cause analysis, priorities, owners and measurable quick wins (0–3 months) and longer-term initiatives (3–12 months).
Ongoing responsibilities
- Own financial operations, accounting close, consolidated management accounts, controls and reporting across entities.
- Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario analysis and KPI reporting, including gross margin, contribution margin, customer acquisition cost, inventory turns and cash conversion.
- Partner with procurement, supply chain, logistics, sales and e-commerce teams to validate costs, improve margins and strengthen operational accountability.
- Conduct periodic risk-based operational and financial reviews, follow up on corrective actions and escalate material issues promptly.
- Oversee liquidity, banking, FX exposure, supplier payment terms and working-capital optimisation.
- Coordinate tax compliance, statutory audits and external professional advisers; maintain appropriate governance and documentation.
- Improve systems, reporting accuracy and process automation; manage, coach and develop finance staff and service providers.
- Champion the practical use of AI across finance and operations: deploy and refine AI tools for analysis, reporting and process automation, set sensible controls around their use (data security, accuracy checks, audit trails), and build AI capability within the finance team.
- Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to the Chairman on pricing, investment, expansion and business performance.
Candidate profile
Essential
- Recognised accounting qualification (Taiwan CPA, US CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent).

- Strong hands-on accounting, reconciliation, consolidation, internal controls and investigative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to review end-to-end operational processes, identify root causes and implement practical corrective actions.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling; experience with ERP or cloud accounting systems.

- Big Four audit experience followed by substantive in-house finance leadership.
- Track record in finance transformation, process redesign, operational reviews and systems implementation.
- Experience implementing AI or machine-learning solutions in a finance or operations function, such as automated transaction matching, fraud or anomaly detection, demand forecasting or AI-enabled close processes.
- Mandarin proficiency.
