REPORTS TO: CEO & Founder

SALARY RANGE: $150,000 – $190,000

ABOUT NODPOD

Nodpod is a female-founded, female-owned sleep-wellness brand based in California, and we pioneered the weighted sleep mask.

Our hero product, The Weighted Blanket for Your Eyes®, is a strap-free mask that uses Deep Touch Pressure to calm the body and quiet the mind. We also make Nodpod BODY, a weighted pod for everywhere else.

We've been at this for over ten years and we're growing fast. We use that same science to help people chill more, stress less, and sleep better®.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Senior Director of Product Development to lead Nodpod's entire product organization, from the first spark of an idea through manufacturing, launch, and ongoing production.

Reporting directly to our CEO & Founder, you will:

  • Set the product strategy and roadmap
  • Lead and grow the product development & production team
  • Own the systems that get every product to market on time, on budget, and on brand

This is a senior leadership role, but it doesn't sit above the work. You'll be accountable for the first steps of the product lifecycle: which products we build and why, and how those products are sourced and made.

Above all, this role needs an exceptional project manager. Nodpod runs several product launches, SKU updates, and production cycles at once, across overseas partners and internal teams. The right person brings proven experience building and running project plans, managing a portfolio of concurrent timelines, and keeping every stakeholder aligned from concept to shelf.

While this role is fully remote, our team works together in real time from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific Time,

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and own Nodpod's multi-year product strategy and annual product roadmap, in partnership with the CEO & Founder.
  • Build and present the business case for new products and line extensions, including target cost, margin, pricing, and volume assumptions.
  • Turn quarterly wellness trend and category scans into clear portfolio decisions on what we build, refresh, or retire.
  • Serve as the voice of product on the leadership team, bringing product status, risks, and tradeoffs to executive decisions.
  • Protect the Nodpod standard for comfort, simplicity, and wellness across every product and SKU.

Product Lifecycle & Quality

  • Own the product development lifecycle across the portfolio, from concepting, prototyping, and testing through manufacturing.
  • Maintain quality control and inspections.

Sourcing, Suppliers & Financials

  • Lead key supplier negotiations and approve margins, terms, and the product development budget.
  • Partner with Operations on Nodpod's sourcing strategy.
  • Partner with Operations on the annual supplier scorecard program, and lead quarterly business reviews with key manufacturing partners.
  • Partner with Operations on the product P&L view, including cost-of-goods targets and margin tracking across all SKUs.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Partner with the Operations, Marketing, Brand, and Design teams so every product and package reflects the Nodpod brand.
  • Lead, manage, and grow the product team's structure and hiring as the portfolio scales.
  • Set clear goals, priorities, and ownership for each role, and hold regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Travel overseas with necessary stakeholders as needed to visit factories, inspect facilities, and strengthen strategic partnerships.
  • Keep the whole company informed with clear, organized communication of product status, decisions, and risks.

Systems & Tools

  • Build and scale the product team's operating systems, including development processes, templates, documentation, and SOPs.
  • Choose, implement, and maintain the project management tools the team and its partners work from.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years in product development for physical consumer products, including 3+ years leading a product team with direct reports.
  • Experience with textiles, soft goods, or sensory-driven products, preferably in CPG, wellness, or sleep-related categories.
  • Proven project and program management experience: a track record of running multiple concurrent product launches with complex timelines, overseas suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders, delivered on time and on budget.
  • Hands-on command of project management tools and methods, including tools such as ClickUp, Asana, Monday, or Smartsheet, and methods such as Gantt charts, critical-path planning, and stage-gate processes.
  • Deep knowledge of end-to-end product development, manufacturing, and sourcing, including production planning and quality control.
  • Strong financial acumen, including COGS modeling, margin management, budgeting, and supplier negotiation.
  • Experience setting product strategy and roadmaps and presenting recommendations to executive leadership.
  • A consumer-first mindset with an eye for both function and form.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel overseas to meet with suppliers, inspect facilities, and strengthen manufacturing partnerships.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT ADDS VALUE

  • Formal project management training or certification, such as PMP, PgMP, or Agile/Scrum.
  • Background in industrial design, sourcing, or packaging development.
  • Experience at a startup or founder-led brand, and you liked the pace.
  • Passion for wellness, mental health, and the science of sleep.

BENEFITS

  • Medical insurance: The base plan is fully covered by Nodpod, with extra coverage options available. Dental and vision are also offered. Coverage starts after 60 days.
  • 401(k): Nodpod contributes 3% of your salary, whether or not you contribute. You're eligible after 12 months.
  • Paid parental leave: Up to four months, after 12 months with Nodpod.
  • Paid time off: 10 days of PTO in your first year, rising to 25 days with tenure. You also get at least 5 sick/wellness days.
  • Holidays: 10 company holidays, 2 floating holidays, and a paid day off for your birthday.
  • Home office equipment & stipend: Nodpod provides the resources you need to do your job.

We make all employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
