Minky Couture is growing, and we're looking for a detail-oriented, dependable Payroll/Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting & Finance team.

Reporting to the Controller, this position will support essential accounting operations, including payroll processing, accounts payable, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

What You'll Do

Payroll Support

• Assist with preparing and processing accurate, timely payroll for all employees.
• Review timekeeping records and follow up on missing punches, approvals, overtime, and other discrepancies.
• Enter and maintain employee payroll changes, including deductions, benefits, garnishments, direct deposit, and tax withholding updates.
• Maintain organized, confidential payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist with payroll account reconciliations, payroll tax filings, and payroll reporting.
• Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and confidentially, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Support year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and payroll audits.

Accounts Payable

• Process vendor invoices and help ensure timely payment of all obligations.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and verify proper approvals and coding.
• Reconcile vendor statements and help resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounts payable records and documentation.
• Assist with 1099 preparation and year-end reporting.

General Accounting

• Prepare journal entries and assist with account reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Support accounts receivable, deposits, and expense coding as needed.
• Provide documentation for audits and follow established policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounting processes.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• 1–2 years of experience in payroll, accounting, accounts payable, or bookkeeping.
• Working knowledge of payroll processes, timekeeping systems, deductions, and payroll taxes.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort learning accounting and payroll software.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Clear, professional communication and a service-minded approach to employee questions.
• Ability to manage recurring deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, or multi-location operations.
• Familiarity with ERP, HRIS, and payroll systems.
• Exposure to multi-state payroll.
