About the role

About Us: Manly Computer Co. is a studio building desktop/macOS native apps for the US and global markets, focused on great product experience, polished design, and practical AI-powered workflows.Products in development:

  • Castle: a dedicated computer/device environment for AI agents to work in.
  • Pressbit: an AI-native experience for documents, DOCX, PDF, and text-editing workflows.
  • More desktop apps aimed at US and international users.

We are looking for a partner to the founder who will research the market, find our first users, tell the product story, and build organic growth, especially through Reddit and X. This is not a role where you receive a content calendar and write to a brief. You will be directly involved in taking products to market.

What You Will Do

Product and audience research

  • Research target users, personas, competitors, workflows, and customer complaints.
  • Monitor Reddit, X, Hacker News, Product Hunt, GitHub, and relevant communities.
  • Synthesize pain points, use cases, and objections; propose positioning and messaging.

Content and community/social growth

  • Plan and run the organic growth strategy for Reddit and X.
  • Write in English: Reddit posts, X threads, product stories, launch announcements, landing-page copy.
  • Participate in communities helpfully and transparently, following each community's rules.
  • Work with the founder and developers on screenshots, GIFs, screencasts, demo videos, and tutorials.
  • Help the founder build a personal voice and a long-term audience.

Product launches

  • Plan pre-launch, launch, and post-launch.
  • Prepare launch assets and run outreach to creators, reviewers, newsletters, and tech communities.
  • Track feedback, refine messaging, and turn learnings into a repeatable playbook.

Growth experiments and analytics

  • Form hypotheses, run experiments, and evaluate results.
  • Track qualified traffic, signups/downloads, activation, retention, and paid conversion where measurable.
  • Report concisely: results, next actions, and what to stop.

Must-have

  • An English portfolio of self-written content, with your role clearly stated.
  • Excellent English writing for US/global audiences.
  • Real familiarity with Reddit and X, including self-promotion norms and community participation. No spam, fake accounts, bought engagement, or mass auto-comments.
  • You try new software yourself and research user problems and competitors on your own.
  • Examples of content or campaigns that drove traffic, signups, leads, or sales; you can tell real metrics from vanity metrics.
  • Proactive and independent, comfortable working directly with a founder across multiple products and many experiments.
  • You use AI tools for research and content, and verify the output yourself.

Big Plus

  • Experience with SaaS, AI tools, developer tools, the Shopify ecosystem, Mac utilities, or productivity software.
  • A case study of acquiring international users without relying on ads.
  • A side project, newsletter, audience, or indie-hacker background.
  • Ability to produce simple demo GIFs, screencasts, or videos.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, UTMs, conversion funnels, and product analytics.
  • Coding skills and a specific marketing degree are not required.

What You Will Get

  • Work directly with the founder from product discovery to launch.
  • Room to test new strategies and channels, with real ownership.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools, desktop software, and international go-to-market.
  • The chance to build a growth playbook across multiple products.
