About the role

We are seeking a strategic, creative, and highly execution-oriented Director of Retail Marketing to lead marketing initiatives that drive traffic, engagement, brand awareness, and revenue across our growing retail business.

Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role will serve as the key marketing partner to the Retail organization, translating the broader brand and marketing strategy into impactful, locally relevant retail experiences. The Director will oversee marketing efforts across existing stores, new store openings, retail events, local market activations, partnerships, and other initiatives designed to bring the brand to life in physical retail.

This is a highly cross-functional role that will partner closely with Retail, Brand, Creative, Social, Influencer, PR, E-Commerce, Visual Merchandising, and Operations. The Director will initially manage one direct report, with the opportunity to build out the Retail Marketing team as the business and store footprint continue to grow.

  • Serve as the primary Marketing partner to Retail leadership, ensuring stores are supported with effective marketing programs that drive traffic, conversion, customer acquisition, and brand engagement.
  • Develop annual, seasonal, and monthly retail marketing calendars aligned with product launches, campaigns, promotional moments, cultural moments, and business priorities.
  • Translate global and national brand campaigns into relevant retail experiences while maintaining consistency across markets.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the connection between digital marketing, social media, influencer activity, and physical retail.

  • Partner with Retail Operations, Visual Merchandising, Creative, PR, Social, and other teams to deliver seamless store launches.
  • Build scalable new-store-opening marketing playbooks that can be replicated as the retail footprint expands.
  • Develop market-specific strategies based on customer demographics, competitive landscape, and local cultural relevance.

Local Store Marketing & Activations

  • Develop localized marketing programs that help stores connect authentically with their communities.
  • Create strategies to increase store traffic and customer engagement through events, partnerships, community activations, influencer opportunities, and localized campaigns.
  • Partner with Store Managers, District Managers, and Retail leadership to identify market-specific opportunities and business needs.
  • Develop scalable toolkits that enable stores to activate locally while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with relevant brands, creators, organizations, universities, and community partners.

Events & Experiential Marketing

  • Lead retail events and experiential activations including store openings, product launches, influencer events, customer experiences, pop-ups, and community events.
  • Develop experiences that create culturally relevant moments and generate both in-store engagement and social content.
  • Partner with Creative and Brand teams to ensure events visually and experientially reflect the brand.
  • Manage external agencies, vendors, production partners, and event resources as needed.

Integrated Marketing

  • Partner with Brand, Creative, Social, Influencer, PR, E-Commerce, CRM, and Performance Marketing teams to ensure retail is fully integrated into broader marketing campaigns.
  • Identify opportunities to use digital channels to drive customers into physical stores.
  • Ensure retail initiatives are supported through appropriate social, influencer, email, SMS, PR, and digital amplification.
  • Partner with Creative to develop retail-specific marketing assets, signage, toolkits, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain strong communication between Marketing and Retail teams around upcoming campaigns, launches, events, and priorities.

Performance & Analytics

  • Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks for retail marketing initiatives.
  • Track performance across store traffic, event attendance, customer acquisition, engagement, sales lift, campaign performance, and other relevant metrics.
  • Analyze results and customer insights to identify opportunities to improve future programs.
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to the CMO and Retail leadership.
  • Manage the retail marketing budget and ensure investments are aligned with business priorities and measurable outcomes.

Team Leadership

  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, establishing clear priorities, accountability, and development opportunities.
  • Build processes, workflows, and infrastructure that allow the Retail Marketing function to scale effectively.
  • Assess future organizational needs and make recommendations for additional resources as the retail footprint expands.
  • Foster strong collaboration between Marketing, Retail, Creative, and other cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
